The first three chapters were, in a sense, an introduction to the book, in which Nehru reflected on his personal experiences, ideas, and his curiosity to understand India.
But the real discovery of India starts from Chapter 4!! The discovery of India's past, its civilization, culture and the long historical journey that shaped India as a nation. And perhaps that is why the title of this chapter is: “The Discovery of India”.
From here Nehru's personal journey progresses into a collective and historical journey of India.
