Never Before Seen Pictures Of Pope Francis

Pope Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglio) was born on 17 December, 1936 in Flores, Buenos Aires City.

He was an adorable baby. Soon enough, he learned to crawl on his own all by himself.

Amalia Damonte, who grew up in the same Flores neighborhood of Buenos Aires as Bergoglio, says that when they were 12 or 13 years old, he had a crush on her. According to her, he said that if she didn't say yes, he would have to become a priest."

Pope Francis graduated from a technical secondary school with the qualification of chemical technician. According to some sources, he also earned a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Buenos Aires.

In 1957 when Jorge Mario Bergoglio was 21, he suffered from pneumonia and cysts, and doctors had to remove some parts of a lung.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio has been elected the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church on 13 March, 2013. He has chosen the papal name, Francis, in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. He has now become the head of the Vatican City State as well. He also got a new white cap and has discarded the red one.

Just like his predecessors, Pope Francis also opposes the use of contraceptives. He is against same-sex marriage as he thinks it is devil's work. I could not find his views on inclusion of women in the Catholic priesthood, but one activist seems hopeful.

More on Pope and the Papacy in my next post.

  1. Pictures are nice. I am hardly interested in the whole buildup around the Pope. I read it in detail in Dan Brown's book of course :).

  2. Very informative. I hear he is also a big fan of Pope music. Of course since Benedict retired, eggs have not been the same.

  5. "If I don't marry you, I will become a priest" story beats the Neil Armstrong one where his neighbor sneered that he will get laid only when the kid next door landed on the moon.
